Welcome to the [GoH] clansite...
[GoH]Nimrod just got the new Team Invasion mod running on the server (just look for - [GoH]Clan server - House that Nimrod Built) but I wanna let it be just us guys trying it out first so he will lock the server for it. The reason for this is something I'll come to but first let me educate u as to what this mod does.
Its the same Invasion u all know and love only with TDM thrown in fer good measure. No more waiting after u die till the next wave either...should be interesting seeing how this madness simply cannot reach high waves. Not only are u now fighting the monsters but each other as well!
The reason I want to do this in an organised fashion is simply because things can get a bit laggy with this mod running. There's simply twice as much happening now. I wanna see how the server fares under this increased stress and if lag is too great an issue. Obviously with the server being upgraded soon, this should ease a little.
Fer now...the server will continue to run straight Invasion till u guys get ure heads together. I'm gonna run this on Friday nite and one thing I found immediately is that when running this, the only way to find the server is thru faves or thru "custom game types" if u have the mod installed.
After rigorous testing last nite I can safely say that this mod seriously rocks! Get it now!!
There will be a few major changes to gameplay from the standard Invasion.
1/ Quadjump will be disabled due to a conflict with the "Health Armour" mutator. As this is heavily reliant on player versus player gameplay the need for Adrenaline boosting comes into play again. However, boosting health is simply a waste of time as ure unlikely to survive long enough to see any benefits. Therefore it makes sense to use the Health Armour mut and have players start with max health and shields to survive the monsters.
REGARDLESS OF HEALTH STATUS, U WILL STILL DIE INSTANTLY AGAINST HUMAN FOE
2/ You will respawn as soon as u want...no more waiting for the current wave to be wiped out. That means u will all see increasingly difficult waves hitting u from all angles. Monsters are pure evil here; (u want easy monsters? Not on my shift buddy ) I may enable Force respawn so spectating players who die will die again...and again...and again...u get the picture
3/ Most importantly This is fun, so play fair and play hard.
There have been some concerns raised over lag issues b4. Any1 who has the mod will see reference to lag issues in the read me file. 4 of us played this last nite and experienced no lag whatsoever so fingers crossed on that score.
Tactics? This game is about points. Big scores are simply not possible here. You gotta fight monsters AND people at the same time...not easy when half a dozen warlords and a dozen skarrj wanna join the party I find that sticking to the bigger rooms and areas pays of when trying to fight 2 foes at once. Campers beware...ALL enemies are visible on radar now
I'll try and have the server running this mode all day Friday but I will reboot it after 9pm GMT. All welcome including non GoH so spread the word.
